Neuromuscular Dentistry
Neuromuscular dental treatment focuses on an understanding of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems and their relationship to occlusion (bite) and jaw position. Neuromuscular Dentistry involves balancing and rebuilding the bite in order to eliminate muscle pain, TMJ symptoms, and a collapsed facial appearance.
The upper and lower teeth should fit together when you bite down. The teeth should move easily against each other when chewing, and the muscles of the face should feel relaxed, balanced, and comfortable.
Neuromuscular dental treatment is the foundation for restorative, reconstructive, and cosmetic dentistry and the foundation for the healthy function of the temporomandibular joint and its associated structures.
A sound bite makes comfortable chewing, posture, alignment, and everyday function possible.
